Five reasons you should become addicted to green tea

what makes green tea so amazing?

1. Rich in Antioxidants

According to WebMD, antioxidants help play a huge role in the strengthening of the immune system, making it easier to ward off infections and illness. And green tea is chock-full of antioxidants. And because of the minimal amount of change the green tea leaves go through when being processed for consumption (as opposed to other tea types), the antioxidants are more concentrated and potent.

2. Promotes Weight-Loss

Studies show that green tea can increase your metabolism, and can aid to weight loss when accompanied by daily exercise and healthy eating. Plus, like most unsweetened teas, green tea has zero calories -- essentially, it's flavored water, but with added benefits.

3. Caffeine Boost

Though green tea doesn't have as much as a cup of coffee, it comes close. But unlike coffee, it doesn't leave your breath stinky or have as big of a crash, while still keeping you awake and alert. (If you're trying to cut caffeine, don't worry -- it's easy to find green teas that are decaffeinated, or lower in caffeine.)

4. Lowers Cholesterol

Studies show that drinking green tea can your lower cholesterol. Why's that important? Because lower cholesterol equals a lower risk of heart disease and stroke. It can also lower blood pressure, and break apart blood clots as well as aspirin. All of that, from tea? Amazing.

5. Lowers Risk of Cancer

Though it's still being studied, researchers believe that there are links between green tea and inhibited cancer growth. This theory hasn't been tested on humans yet, but hey -- with all of these other benefits, it wouldn't hurt to "test it out" on yourself, would it?

Don't like the bitter taste of green tea? No fear! It's easy to find flavored green tea in your local grocery store, and there's very little a little bit of sugar and lemon can't fix. I, personally, suggest Sweet Leaf's Mint and Honey Green Tea. It tastes like heaven!

Even without all of these benefits, green tea is still my favorite drink -- it's calming, tastes great hot or cold.....
